If only you'd been around in the 1940s and '50s, Pete, I'm sure Enid would have employed you as her marketing assistant!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

She would have indeed.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

The dear little dog in the original edition was called Sandy. Alas the dog's new name is Russet.
Katie and Nick who are brother and sister called Robin and Betty in the original book become orphans and have been adopted by Laura's parents. She is Lucy in the original story and Peter and Betty's cousin.
In both the original and the new updated version the American boy does not speak American dialogue.
Still a good read. One I am reading to my great niece and nephew.
As its open season for name changes. I will put them in the story. They can be Peter and Betty. Sandy is a better name than Russet anyway.
First invention. To have an air disaster in which Kit's father goes missing. A flight over the Andes should do it.

Sounds like you're reading the versions that were updated by Enid's daughter Gillian.

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'
