Could we agree on that, Anita? ;-)

He may not be an official member of the Secret Seven most of the time but he influences a number of their passwords - I remember "Wuff", "Wuff-wuff" and"Scamper".

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

And just what has Brexit got to do with it?
Or is that a new idea for the Games thread?

'Think of situations of problems, trouble and conflict in EB books and refer to them in the terms of Brexit?'

Note to self: Cousin George will offer many an occasion for such talk... having sulked for so long, she now has decided to break with the rest of the family and live with her Scottie dog, Welsh collie and Irish Wolfhound happily ever after on Kirrin Island, likewise happily ignoring any howling of the dogs longing to be back on the mainland? :D

Oh no, it might get too much like the "adult" Famous Five book Five on Brexit Island...

aminmec wrote:The Secret 7 have a different atmosphere of enjoyment .Simple and short locally based adventures .
All have a play cum mystery solving plot .Playing a game of Red Indians ,with aeroplanes, building the Guy are all part of normal enjoyment of kids .
The children are intelligent and smart -forming a club, planning out investigations, tracking clues. Most kids would aspire to practically do that. I think thats where the series is succesful. The stories are non complicated and kids would love to do something similar.
I think the Secret Seven series are popular next to the Famous FIve .They have been in continuous print .For every edition of the Famous 5 coming out there has been a Secret 7 edition.2 in 1s Collected editions, omnibuses havent been overlooked. Knight books in the 70s even had children posing for the photo covers for the series to match the F5 TV series covers .Millenium and centenary editions with vinatge reprints were released too. The same wasnt done for other major series.
Ive seen more S7 titles around shops than those of other series -at least in my country.
Definately popular in their own way .
Interesting deal, these '70s photo covers for SECRET SEVEN. And fairly misleading. I can't count how many times I've wondered to myself: "when did THEY have their own TV show?" Or similarly to that effect....

On my list of SS projects to do are;

Create a map of "Peterswood"
Reproduce the goods yard in miniature railway from SS on the Trail
Do some detective work and try and track down those that appeared on the covers - I'd love to know more about how they crested, which for me at least, are the best covers of any series.

Unfortunately having two toddlers seems to limit your time, even when I'm semi retired!

I presume that's the pretend Peterswood of the Secret Seven rather than the real Peterswood of the Find Outers, lol?!

Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes

It is, I think it is mentioned just the once and was probably an error on Enid's behalf? I tend to prefer the theory that Kepley is the name of the Sevens home town.
