Yours Retro is a quarterly magazine. It is described as follows on the internet:

Yours Retro (or Retro magazine from Yours) is a delightful quarterly that aims to forgo modern day news for a bit of nostalgia. In today’s high paced 24 hour newsworld there is plenty to say about the comings and goings of modern celebrities and fashion with tweets flying by the second. Yours Retro on the other-hand takes the time to reflect upon the film stars and fashions of our youth and uncover forgotten histories of our entertainment cultures past.

It costs £3.99 per issue, but works out considerably cheaper if you take out a subscription.

Yes, I paid £3.99 with free p&p. It has arrived and I enjoyed the article, but wouldn't consider buying any more copies. The nostalgia (as Eddie quoted) mainly concerns film stars and fashions, neither of which interest me. If it's nostalgia you're after, I would strongly recommend the Best of British magazine.

Does anyone know how long this issue is likely to be in the shops? I'm not planning to go into town until next Monday, but if Issue 9 is imminent then I'll make a special trip to get Issue 8.

It should be in the shops for a few weeks, as it is a quarterly publication. Issue 9 isn’t due out until the end of November.

Good luck with your search, Katharine. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a copy. I counted six copies on the shelf at the WH Smith shop in Burgess Hill earlier today. :D

I had a look in Asda today. No sign of either " Yours Retro" or " Best of British". Mind you, their magazine isle has shrunk from two counters at least, down to about a quarter of one. Rather like the men's clothing section. I suspect that they are aiming for the young female market- so an "oldies reminiscing" style probably doesn't suit.

You're welcome, Jack. Regarding your next post, I think you would need to visit a proper newsagent (such as WHS*) to find these relatively specialist magazines.

*Other proper newsagents are available

The September issue of Best of British is no longer available, Jack, as the October edition is now on sale. However, you’ll have no trouble getting a copy of issue 8 of Yours Retro, from WH Smith branches.
