 In the back of my edition of Swallowdale there is about twelve pages dedicated to the 'backstory' of this book, in which there is a section about how these books got their illustrations. Someone else originally illustrated them, but because he wanted them 'realistic' Arthur Ransome chose to illustrate the books himself, but "he wasn't keen on drawing faces" and avoided this by arranging the illustrations so that the children's faces didn't need to be drawn.

Good for the person who bought it! I certainly wouldn't! If it was by EB, you can see why she was more successful at writing! ;-)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

I wondered about this one too. Anyone recognize it?

I presume they are intimating it belonged to an EB book rather than painted by her, LOL! ;-) I don't recognise that...looks like a colour plate from inside a book?

Quite why the seller would presume it was from an Enid Blyton book is beyond me...could be any number of similar books from a certain era. 8)

Thanks for sharing, Pete! :-)
