Enid Blyton at Old Thatch

Post by Tony Summerfield »

A new book, Enid Blyton at Old Thatch by Tess Livingstone is being published in Australia at the end of April. Tess has just joined the Society, and in a phone conversation that we had this morning, she told me that if we can overcome the problems of distance, she will attempt to get me signed copies of the book to sell on the Enid Blyton Day. I think this will prove a 'must buy' for all those Peterswood/Bourne End fans!

This looks amazing, Tony. How apt too, to come out at the time when we have been discussing Bourne End/Peterswood in such detail. I do hope we can get some copies in time for the Day.

It does indeed sound interesting. Hopefully we'll be able to have a look at it on the 10th of May.

My copy is already bought! :D

In my imagination, anyway.

You can buy one for every room in the house, Rob, as Tess has told me she is sending over 150 signed copies!

No, that's Nigel's stately home. I was reckoning that one or two others might like a copy as well as Rob!

Alas, I can only use about 50 rooms now. It is far too costly to heat and maintain the whole house. I have had to more or less completely close off the West Wing, unfortunately. :(

Is there a mad old woman locked in the attic, or a closed up nursery full of toys or a secret passage anywhere in the west wing? :P

We do have an old nursery in the west wing, but no old woman as far as I know! The governess had a suite of rooms there, but we had to send our boys away to boarding school in the end, as governesses were far too attractive, and my wife was getting very jealous.

It's obviously time to find the missing family treasure. I guess having over 50 rooms would involve a lot of tapping on walls for secret panels etc? Perhaps you need to arrange for a selection of Society members to come round and help you with the task.

Oh and don't forget having a good look down the well. In my experience that's often a good place to find maps, clues etc, if not the treasure itself.
This is a Green Knight Book which means that it is a book by one of the most popular authors of all.

I bought my copy from The Enid Blyton Day, Pete, but I can't remember which year of Day it was! Must have been 2008 same year as this thread. :)
