Your Scottish teacher is right that it's pronounced Ee-nid, Zainab.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

It's definitely Eeenid, every time I've ever heard it. In Australia as well as Britain!

 We had another thread where Pete's artistic re-imagining of a Famous Five cover made the signature look like Grud Blyton... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6717&p=248677#p248676 8)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Thank God I adopted my Scottish teacher's pronunciation. Otherwise, it would be so shameful to be a Blytonian and still pronounce the name wrong. :D

For years, my dad thought it was pronounced En - id (short 'e') - but then he did spend the first 21 years of his life in North Wales!
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)

I always pronounce it like Eeenid rather than Aanid, but I suppose it depends from where you live.

Not really! Enid is Enid wherever you live.
