Spies, Smugglers, Spook Train book"...Yes, please!

In my day - 1970's - my friends and I either watched Blue Peter or Magpie. Swap Shop or Tiswas.

We didn't have a video recorder in those days and I don't think the programmes were repeated. You had to stop 'playing out' and come in and watch the channel you preferred.

One ITV show I do remember enjoying and being a bit scared of was The Tomorrow People...

I think most of what I remember watching was on BBC - Playschool, Scooby-Doo, the Wacky Races, Penelope Pitstop, The Phoenix and the Carpet, God's Wonderful Railway, The Little Silver Trumpet, The Enchanted Castle, Tom's Midnight Garden, Moondial, The Box of Delights, The World of Johnnie Briggs, Lizzie Dripping, Take Hart, Animal Magic, The Really Wild Show, Record Breakers, Crackerjack, Cheggers Plays Pop, Jigsaw, Think of A Number, , and of course Blue Peter etc. I think they were all BBC!

Children of the Stones terrified me as a child! I think it was one of the few not on BBC that I saw -

You have listed all my faves as well - I have always disliked slapstick so Tiswas was not for me.

I suppose the generation before ours didn't even have a choice - it was BBC TV or the radio!

I remember being scared of Children of the Stones, Doctor Who (with Tom Baker) and a drama called Sky. And yes - that unfurling hand on The Tomorrow People, coupled with the eerie music, was most unnerving!

Yes. My sister and I watched the 1970s Famous Five series in North Wales when we were children and we loved it. If Gary does write his book, I'll certainly be getting a copy!

I've looked in "Television & Radio 1979" (a book by the Independent Broadcasting Authority" to check- it merely says that Southern TV supplied the FF to the networks. As far as I recall this did include Ulster TV. From memory, it was transmitted at 4:45-5: 15 pm then changed to 5:45-6: 15 pm.
