Famous Five Souvenir DVD Box Set

Here’s something for lovers of classic TV adventure. The Famous Five is a British television series based on the children’s books of the same name by Enid Blyton. It was broadcast on ITV over two series in 1978 and 1979. It was produced by Southern Television in 26 half-hour episodes. Recently our client Reel Corporation in collaboration with Roadshow, commissioned T-Rex Art to design a collector’s souvenir box set of The Famous Five complete TV series. Besides the inclusion of the entire DVD Set, the box set also contains a number of goodies including a full size Chrome Torch, a club members Badge, 6 vintage Postcards featuring original art from the books and a 32 Famous Five full colour Collectors Handbook with tons of fun facts, production notes, location sites and an in-depth Enid Blyton biography.

The design instruction for T-Rex Art was to design the set and all the items to look vintage so as to be consistent with the show’s age and feel. Thus the use of sepia tones, and ‘old school’ style illustration styles.

Anyone got all these items? I like the look of the torch!

Not bad — pity it doesn't say where you can buy them! It's an Aussie designer too, I notice.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

George@Kirrin has bought this recently from eBay.au I believe. Looks lovely - but I was just given the collectors' boxset for my Christmas!

I wouldn't pay AU $56.11 (about £27.40) for it myself, but there it is, brand new and presumably including all the extras as listed on the box!

It's been authenticated by both George@Kirrin and Gary Russell so it definitely exists. It can be bought on the Australian ebay.

I think that less than £30 is actually very good considering that it's the 70s series, the 1957 serial plus a book and a few bits and pieces. If I didn't already have the DVDs I would be thinking about it.

Yes, but there's also the $16.00 (about £7.88) postage — and I'm not sure whether that's for overseas, or just within Australia. 8)

Given the size of the box and the weight of a metal torch I'm guessing postage worldwide would be a lot more than £8. G@K or Gary should know.
