It's good to see your photos, Onkel Quentin. :)

The Mackintosh is the rubberised raincoat. The rubber boots are called Wellingtons (or Wellies).

I think the word you're looking for is "stile".

Exactly, Anita! 8)
It's stile indeed. Thank you!
And even though I did read about Wellingtons before, I all forgot about them.

The yellow rubberized raincoat (it's a short one) is in Germany nicknamed Friesennerz (at least in Hamburg where I used to live). Friesen are North German people who live at the coast of Friesland, Nerz means mink.

I was talking to the Jane, the owner of Decoy Pond Farm, on Monday. She informed me that she remembers the closing titles being filmed at PARTRIDGE BUSH, a small insignificant clump of trees just off the B3056 road. From Beaulieu road train station it is about a mile SE along the B3056 towards Beaulieu. The road goes into a dip before rising again. As the road reaches the top of the hill, the clump of trees are seen on your right..about 100 yards away...not far from the Pig bush car park further along the road.
There are no longer any pine trees there, as seen in the closing scene. Jane's husbands friend, who was a forest ranger at the time of filming, informed me that he cut the trees down not long after filming. Only a dozen or so of mature trees remain. He also said that some of the galloping scenes from Mystery Moor were filmed on an adjacent track. He remembers the camera being mounted on tracks so they could move along & capture the action as the horses galloped across the moor. Jane said that they had to get some stand-in's for the actors on a few occasions, & don them with unconvincing wigs!
Even after 40 years, Jane seems to remember practically everything about the filming that took place, as if it were yesterday! She even told me that the lady who supplied the carriages, which Henry ( Henrietta) was seen using in the MM episode, is still alive & still supplying carriages for films, etc! Her name is Margaret Travers, & she still lives locally. Jane has my e-mail address & she will send me more details about the filming locations from other sources, who were around at the time.
GARY...if ever you get round to writing your book, then Jane & Mrs Travers would be a great for anecdotes, & for possibly jogging your memory! :D
Ps:- I can't question the above info or that re the end credits. I can only go on what I've been told. Maybe Gary has other recollections on where they were filmed.

That's fascinating, Number 6. Thanks for sharing that information with us. It sounds as though Jane has got an excellent memory and it must have been very interesting chatting to her.

Jane has a brilliant memory for the locations on her patch, Anita. I'm hoping that she'll jot down her memories (& those of her friends) of the series & send them to me, as she said she would do. Only time will tell, though. These things have an habit of fizzling out & I won't hold my breath! Jane also said that Mrs Travers, the carriage supplier, would be thrilled to meet me for a chat. Maybe that can be arranged one day. I wonder what memories she holds? It'll be an interesting encounter, for sure! :D

Number 6, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your last two posts on meeting Jane and the possibility of talking to Mrs. Travers. 8)

If Partridge Bush is, as memory serves, pretty close to DPF, then I'd say she's 100% spot on! I recall (back in 77, it may have gone now) there was a Forestry Commission car park on the opposte side of the road, give or take a few yards.

Oh and she's right about the gallopping stuff, although I think only Michelle (and possibly Jennifer) had stunt riders.
