Random words to Blyton Worlds

Here's a little idea I had when reading another post on the forum.

Someone posts a completely random word and the next person has to think of an Enid Blyton book,or part of a book that links with the random word.

Then the person who has submitted the story they think fits/links best with the random word can either post another completely random word,or leave it to the next poster to think of one if they prefer.

Here's an example of the game:

Random Word: Sniff

Reply: Five Go To Mystery Moor-'Sniffer'

Ok,get the idea?

Here's the first random word then:

Sword:

Interesting idea for a game.

Sword: Great-Grandad picking up a heavy old sword and swinging it dangerously round his head, "looking like a reincarnation of some fearsome old warrior, with his great beard and blazing eyes." (Five on Finniston Farm)

Do I get to post a new word? If so:

Rubber

Noddy and the Magic Rubber, definitely! :D A fun romp of a story that ends up with a naughty monkey being taught a lesson in a rather sneaky way.

Here's another random word...

Tea

Tea : Five Go Down to the Sea -
The high tea that awaited them was truly magnificent. A huge ham gleaming as pink as Timmy’s tongue; a salad fit for a king. In fact, as Dick said, fit for several kings, it was so enormous. Mrs Penruthlan?”

White: The magnificent aeroplane in The Secret Mountain, the White Swallow At one point it's described as "a great white bird that said 'r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r,' as loudly as a thunderstorm."

Next word:

Explosion: Five on Kirrin Island Again, where the threat to blow up the island makes for one of the most dramatic episodes I can remember in a Famous Five book!

Next word...

Cat:

Cat: The Pantomime Cat, of course, notable for giving Fatty the creeps! 'A very large, furry animal was in the window, looking mournfully up at him...'

Circus:

Circus: Mr Galliano's Circus, what else? Enid wrote plenty of books that featured circuses, but the Galliano trilogy is the one that's always stayed with me the most — so many lovable characters and memorable episodes.

(Come to the Circus! and The Circus of Adventure should also get honourable mentions, but Galliano's is the "Blyton world" I thought of instantly.)

This is a good idea for a game, by the way — thanks, Pete! :D

Sandwich:

Sandwich: Five on a Hike Together, when the Five go into a village shop and ask the woman there to make them an assortment of sandwiches using 64 slices of bread! Crumbs (well, there would be!) - that would keep any other customers waiting and deplete the village's bread supply!

Orange:

Box:

Box: Mr Meddle meeting a kangaroo that wanted to box him! (He's lucky it was only in an Enid Blyton story... in real life, male 'roos don't box with their forepaws, they kick out with their hind legs, which are strong enough to do serious damage if you happen to be in the way. )
