Can you provide the one missing word to complete the Enid Blyton story title correctly?
No cheating. You can have as many attempts at you like, one post at a time.
Then if correct you can choose a story title with one word missing for us to guess.

Let's start with:

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Didn't think so. I guess I could always cheat and look for it in the Cave, but I'll let someone else have a go.

There's one I know without cheating!! . . . afternoon

I had an afterthought to this as I was pretty sure it could also be 'morning' or 'night', so I then looked it up and I was right.

I also thought that Tony, but 'afternoon' is what I had in mind - having dipped into a Holiday Book to find a suitable title.

Oh gosh, I shouldn't have answered that should I!

I have to be honest and say that I wasn't even thinking of the same story as you, as the one I was thinking of was specially written for a Daily Mail Annual, whilst the one in the Twelfth Holiday Book is a different story and come originally from Sunny Stories!

A two-worder for people to answer easily.

Pantomime . . .
