Another good guess. It is a Mrs, but not from any of The Famous Five Books.

Mrs. Pepper in Put Em Rights...I think. Read it just a while ago but cannot besure if it was Mrs. Pepper or Mrs. Jones who said it to the other.
...and there, hidden among the leaves, was Peronel. She had beautiful golden hair and was dressed in silvery white with silver wings on her back.

Correct - very well done and over to you!

" Oh," said Mrs. Jones, her face growing lighter. " Oh ! Do
you really mean—you're not going to say a word to anyone ? No
one will know ? "
" Not a soul," said Mrs. Pepper. " I'm not one to gossip
round, never have been, and I'm not going to start now."
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.

Thanks Pete! :D

Okay here is a new one:

"... - and I'm not going to leave you, sir, either, when you've given me my first chance".
...and there, hidden among the leaves, was Peronel. She had beautiful golden hair and was dressed in silvery white with silver wings on her back.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Is it from one of the Lutterworth books?

Jimmy to Mr Galliano in Mr Galliano's Circus?

Or possibly Hurrah For the Circus...
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)

Is it Noddy in Hurrah for little Noddy to Mr Golly the garage owner?
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

Here's my quotation - its actually the opening line of a book! ;-)

"Three very excited children bumped along a rough country lane in a farmer's cart..." :D
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

No wonder that last one sounded familiar... it's obviously too long since I last re-read the Galliano books!! Well done, Rob.

As for the new one... is it The Children of Cherry-Tree Farm?
