The dog's name was Poppet I think. So -

A poor old woman had a dog,
And it was always barkin,
Its name was Poppet
and she belonged to Larkin

I'm sure that isn't quite right though.
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.

Daisy, you are very close.
"It's name was Poppet" is correct but, that is not the whole line and the next line is not correct though the line does end in "Larkin".

Can we have a clue? I suspect that none of us know it off the top of our heads and it would be cheating to look it up :)

Ok Here is the clue.
See if you can fill in the missing words.

A poor old woman had a dog,
And it was always barkin,
Its name was Poppet , and of _ _ _ _ _ _
The _ _ _ _ _ '_ / _ _ _ _ / was Larkin.

It goes like this:

A pore old woman had a dog,
And it was always barkin,
Its name was Poppet , and of course
The woman’s name was Larkin.

Thank you, Snugglepot. :D

Staying with The Mystery of Tally-Ho Cottage, where did the Lorenzos hide the stolen picture?

Was it in a curtain hem? (I am rereading the series atm but not got to that one yet. I remember that SOMETHING was hidden in the hem of a curtain though :))

It was not in the hem of a curtain. You are thinking of The Mystery of Holly Lane, where money is sewn into the hem of a curtain.

:?: Was that stolen painting hidden between a carpet/rug and whatever backing material was reinforcing it underneath? :?

:D Thanks, Eddie. Thinking over Yak's answer helped prod my spotty memory.

In 'TMOT Secret Room' Bets actually *shock, horror* kisses the top of another character's head. Which head did she kiss?

:D Correct, Snugglepot. It was indeed Buster's hairy head that Bets kissed. :D

Thank you.

When Daisy dared Fatty to sell a ticket to the Church sale to Goon in "Holly Lane", How did Fatty accomplish the challenge?
