Can we have an A, please?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Thanks, Ilsa. That'll teach me for being a sucker for word games!

It is a bit of a double-edged sword, isn't it? Just the one E.

Wow! Dave, it was difficult to guess at that stage, at least for me. Well done!
S, please.

Re: Hangman
Thanks, Sixret. I guess it only goes to show that you don't have to know very much about Blyton stories to crack this game.
Oddly enough, there's only one S, too.

Re: Hangman
Sometimes coming up with a new puzzle is as hard as the solving of one
Can I have an A please? (or more than one!)

"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

That's very true, Fiona. I was always quite into cryptic crosswords and even compiled a few, but the compiling was always harder than the solving.
