And how right you are to try it, Anita!

Two things occur to me: this is one example where EB did write about a golly being despicable; and what a lot of stories she wrote that began "There was once ....."!

So what did old Clever Clogs Jumbo do? I suppose he went up to him and said, "I'm not afraid of you, Golly. Only one thing frightens me - mice! I've heard they crawl up your trunk and run around inside your head." Shudders at the thought.

Your turn to be 'Hangman Harry' or, if you prefer, 'Harriet'. :wink:

Thanks, Dave! When I asked for M I was thinking along the lines of:

There was once a magician who hated +++++TE++++ people.

Then I worked out that the penultimate word could be "frightening" so I had a rethink!
