Well I've been thinking, but it hasn't got me anywhere yet!

Is it 'The Dog that Went to Fairyland'? Just a woof guess!
He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green.

Re: Blyton Ditloids Quiz
Thanks, Eddie and Ilsa. To begin with, I was thinking along the lines of "The D Twins Went (or Wanted) to F", but that didn't lead anywhere. Then it hit me that it could be "The Dog that Went to F". But where? France? Not likely. Finland? Never. Where would Enid have sent him? Where else but Fairyland?
Now to find another.

Re: Blyton Ditloids Quiz
Thanks for outlining your train of thought Dave. I'm not sure that I could emulate that though. I'm a bit handicapped by knowing comparatively few short stories.

Re: Blyton Ditloids Quiz
I'm not sure that is a handicap, Ilsa. You just have to be familiar with her themes and the way she worded her titles. I think it's fair to say that originality was not Enid's strong point. She often re-used themes and names, as has in the past been discussed in this forum. How many of her stories feature dogs? Or schools? Or fairies?
It was just the result of her way of working. But then, if she had meticulously thought out each plot before she started writing them (as many authors do), she could not have written half as much as she actually did. That's the trade-off.
I think what really handicaps you is a reluctance to have a guess before you're certain. But why? There's no penalty for having a wrong guess. It's good exercise for the mind, after all.
New one (coming from a different direction this time):
The E B C S C in 1998.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

The [W]hole in one, Courtenay! I knew that wouldn't last long.

I haven't forgotten — just haven't been able to think of a good one! I will try, but please feel free to go ahead, anyone, if you come up with one sooner.

I didn’t really think you’d forgotten, Courtenay. I know how difficult it is to think of a good one. I hope you didn’t mind my little reminder.
