I was assuming it was Susie from the Secret Seven books and just thought others would appreciate her getting her comeuppance!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

A new one:

When Fatty heard the phone ring,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

A new mystery perhaps,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

When Fatty heard the phone ring,
He wondered what news it would bring.
A new mystery perhaps,
Or a dreadful mishap,

He wondered what news it would bring.
A new mystery perhaps,
Or a dreadful mishap,
So was sad when the phone just went "ping".

A new starter:

When Ern went to find Christmas Hill,

Poor Ern stood and shivered with fright
As he waited alone in the night.
It made it's approach,
