I'd go to Jesus's crucifixion. Not for morbid reasons and certainly not because I would like to see someone publicly die but because I'd love to know if he really WAS the Son of God or not and if the events as recorded in the gospel are true.

Same question

I think I'd go to the time when EB's daughters were my age, and play with them and make friends!

What if you could go in the future to 2030. What do you think you'll see?

From the way things are going with technology, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw everyone walking around in their own protective bubbles (from germs and contact with other people) and inside the bubble would be like a big touch screen, so you could ring, work, order on the go.....or possibly something like the film 'Surrogates' lol

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go first and why?

I don't have the faintest idea of what this thread is about. At the beginning it seems to be to say something to the (as yet) unknown next poster (to what end, I have no idea); but it doesn't seem to be that now, but just odd comments responding to what others have said, like a normal, slightly unfocused conversation. And I don't have the time or inclination now to study all the pages in between to see what's happened.

Have you read "The Man Who Awoke" (1933) by Laurence Manning? Relating in several long episodes the adventures of a man who travelled into the future by undergoing suspended animation and waking up at intervals of thousands of years, one of the far-future worlds he encountered featured just this. The "living cities" mentioned are really quite close to what you describe.
     E. M. Forster's "The Machine Stops" (1909) features a somewhat similar situation, but here the encapsulated, bubble-wrapped people are in stationary cells far underground, shielded from the weather and those evil germs out there, and doing everything by screen in what sounds rather similar to the Internet. And it's not good when (as the title promises) the machine stops and people have to cope without it!

Probably won't happen, so I've never given it much thought.
But New Zealand (close to Australia, very similar in way of life, and thus familiar, and with beautiful mountain scenery) would probably be my first choice.
And my mother and I have occasionally talked idly of going just for a few days to visit Singapore. It's said to be a relatively easy Asian destination for someone who's not accustomed to travelling.
But neither of these ideas is even remotely close to a serious plan. However, for my very first time overseas, if it ever happens, it has to be either or both of: (a) being with a person who's travelled before, and (b) going to a place with a relatively familiar way of life - preferably both of these. Leaving Australia is a scary prospect for me!

Regards, Michael.

Yes, this thread is getting quite confusing - at first the 'thing we said to the person below us' was a comment and somehow, this has changed to a question. :? :?

I think the thread has become more interesting since people changed to asking a question.

In mules we find two legs behind and two we find before.
We stand behind and then we find what the two behind are for.

And if that doesn't confuse you, nothing will.

I'd split my 24 hours over 2 events. Firstly I'd visit my Nana the week before she died, as I'd meant to visit her, but it got put off. Secondly, I'd stay for tea at my Grandma's. I went to visit her when I was first married, and she asked me to stay for tea. I said I'd better not as my husband would wonder where I'd got to. She wasn't on the phone, and I didn't have a mobile in those days. When I got home, my husband said he wouldn't have worried where I was and that I could have stayed. I never got the chance to go to tea with her again.

Right, I'd spend 4 hours at 6 different events.

The first thing I would go to is my birth so I could see me as I tiny baby.
Then I'd go to the time when Earth began as it would look awesome.
Then I'd go to the dinosaur era to check that they're real.
Then I'd go to when Enid Blyton wrote her first book.
Then I'd go to the Harry Potter set and I'd meet Rupert and all the other HarryP stars

So, if I want to revive this topic, do I say something to the person below me, or ask a question?

Feel free to ask a new question if you like, Farwa!

All right - if you could have any magic power you wanted, what would you wish for?

A: Invisibility; without shadow of a doubt.

New Question: if you could invite four famous people to a dinner party (or whatever type of party is appropriate for your age group) who would they be?

Can we invite people from the past?
