The idea is to use your choice from the previous post and add another to compare it with, rather than two completely new characters. If you scroll back you'll see what I mean. Welcome to the forums. I hope you will enjoy them as much as we do.

Both interesting and strong characters, but I'll go for Sooty as Jo is often the winner!

Sooty
or
Barney?

Has to be Barney as we only see Sooty in one book.

Barney or Aunt Fanny?

Barney, I think, although Aunt Fanny is a lovely character - very long-suffering.

Definitely Barney - one of my favourite characters (before he gets domesticated!)

Barney

or

Snubby?

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

George Kirrin - I always wanted to be like her, and have a dog called Timmy...

We're actually supposed to use our own choice as one of the new suggested alternatives, Mary Lou, but since you have revived this forgotten thread we may as well go along with your choices for now.. (I'm sure nobody minds?)

I'll choose Julian although I like Fatty too, but Julian was the big brother I never had when I first read about him when I was about ten!

Julian

Jack Trent. I do like Julian as a character. With all his faults he is still the natural leader of the Famous Five but Jack Trent has always been my all time favourite Blyton Character.

Jack Trent or Jack Arnold?

Jack Trent because he's a bit of a dreamer and I empathise with his longing to find a Great Auk.

Jack Trent or Philip Mannering?

Ooh, difficult. I like Philip for his way with animals, but I'll choose Jack because of his loving ways and protection of his young sister Lucy-Ann.
