Mr. Shorofsky taught music at the school of performing arts in Fame and one of the students wrote a song about him. I thought the character at the top of the stairs looked rather like him:

You're right - he does look like the teacher, Anita...although I don't remember the song!

(I remember Fame, and that particular episode. I thought Anita's caption was hilarious!)

As its already a week since I posted this, I'll pick a winner tomorrow -

After much deliberation - I loved Anita's caption about Uncle Quentin going shopping - especially as its fairly topical at the moment in Birmingham - parents in pyjamas and dressing gowns dropping their kids off at school - and I also enjoyed the caption about jeremy Corbyn - even though I'm a bit of a Corybista - the gent on the stairs certainly looks like him!

But in the end I went for Pete's witty caption about Francis -

Just a quick post to Anita:

I too remember "FAME" (the TV Series). I thought I liked the TV version more than the original movie. The TV series certainly made a good starting point for budding actress Lori Singer prior to the 1984 movie "FOOTLOOSE"....

You are quite right. "Rob Houghton" and I were indeed applying modern connotations to a vintage 1936 artwork, and we may have been wrong to do so, but you'll forgive us when we say we were "merely calling it as we saw it". Rest assured, "Rob" and I will try to be a little more sensitive as we attempt future re-captioning of the artwork of the times....

I saw the TV show Fame (though I think only the first two series/seasons were broadcast in the UK) before I ever saw the film. I was disappointed when I watched the film as it didn't have the same atmosphere and I was used to the TV characters.

I quite enjoyed Footloose as a teenager but when I watched it again on TV about three years ago I thought it was a load of tripe!
