Caption Competition

Post by Anita Bensoussane »

Hi,

This illustration comes from The Naughtiest Girl is a Monitor (Dean & Son edition.) Anyone who wants to have a go, please submit an apt and amusing caption below and, on Tuesday 16th January, we'll pick a winner. (I might even be able to set up a poll so we can vote for our favourite caption - it depends how many entries there are.) There isn't a prize, I'm afraid - it's just for fun.

Anita

Edit: Sorry the picture is so big. I selected "use original size" but the picture has come out much larger than the original.

I don't believe it! This was originally written in Latin; they've only gone and updated it - wretched publishers. I'll finish it though, if it kills me!

The words seem familiar...... I know I've read this kind of language in the school.... :? Who writes like this? Hark! Rita does! Has she written this book?

This book is fascinating, it's just my luck that I found it in the library just before I'm meant to be in bed. "Just a few more pages Rita please, I've got my torch with me so it should be not problem."
There is always something else new to learn.

I tried to set up a poll so we could vote for our favourite caption but I'm afraid it didn't work. I had to start a new thread, and stuff I had cut and pasted kept disappearing as I moved from from one thread to the other. :x

So I hope people don't mind if I just pick my favourite, which was Heather's:

"These darn new editions - half my dialogue's missing! I must bring that up in the next Meeting. Rita will be furious!"

All the captions made me laugh, but I particularly liked the idea of Elizabeth exclaiming over changes made to the Naughtiest Girl books, and resolving to bring up the topic at the next meeting! (Wonder what she thought of her hair changing colour! )

Congratulations Heather, and well done to all who entered! :D

I, for one, don't mind at all, Anita. I even agree with your choice. 8)

Thank you very much, Anita (and Nigel).

I would like to thank my parents, my children, my husband, my managers, my PR team, my grade two teacher, my second cousin twice removed, my......

Heh I am sorry I missed this, they were all funny :D. I remember that illustration though it's been ages since I last saw it. It's weird, I used to think she looked really old and now, obviously, she looks like a little girl .. which shows just how long it's been :). ANyway can we have another one?
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

[Moose:] "ANyway can we have another one?"

Hope so. Anyone like to post a picture for a new Caption Competition?
