The dog, Woodhouse, had the children well-trained. "Sit-t-t!" he barked. And they did!
He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green.

Some enjoyable captions so far. :D Keep 'em coming and I'll pick a winner in about a week.

Halfway through eating her ice-cream George suddenly realised that a real boy would still be fumbling ineptly with the lid, like Julian and Dick.

Timmy looked at his mistress in consternation. Never before had the children been so desperate that they'd resorted to eating his tins of Waggomeat.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Some funny captions which I enjoyed reading and judging!

The runner-up is Pete with his rather cheeky:
"Timmy! Don't do that by us - go and do it over there were the Sticks are having an al fresco supper!"
and the winner is Dave (Domino) with:
The dog, Woodhouse, had the children well-trained. "Sit-t-t!" he barked. And they did!
 Great stuff! I love the way "Woodhouse" brings to mind not only Barbara Woodhouse but also Toddy Woodgate who played Timmy in the 1970s TV series. Well done, Dave, and over to you!

Thanks, Anita. It was, of course, Barbara Woodhouse that I had in mind. One of the great British eccentrics. I liked the way that she insisted the command "Sit-t-t!" had to be accompanied by the correct signal, which was for the owner to bend his/her right arm as far as it could go and place their hand on their shoulder. She seemed to be quite oblivious that from the dog's point of view it looked like they were about to be hit. Actually she would never hit the dogs, but often hit the owners!
My first thought was the same as Julie's. That dog in the drawing didn't look at all Timmy-like, did it?

Thanks Pete and Rob. Liked your comment on Pete's entry, Rob.

Here's a new drawing for you all.

Dale gasped. If she hadn't been wearing razor-sharp heels she'd have kicked herself for not realising that the gnome-like fellow was Ming the Merciless in disguise!
