"I keep telling you, Stanley Gibbons is not one of your relatives."
He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I used to adore the Monkees, especially the 'late' Davy Jones.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

I used to watch the TV series (probably repeats, not sure!?) when I was a kid!

(The Monkees television series originally aired from 1966 to 1968. So if you were watching it in another year, then it definitely was a repeat. Remember that the Monkees band was just put together for the show, but they chose to stay together for a few years after the show went off the air)

"It says everyone will only be reading ebooks by the year 2017." said Barney. "What piffle!!" replied Miranda.

Re: Caption Competition
The Monkees annoyed the record company so much that they created another band - "The Archies". This used animations rather than real people and session musicians so that no one could dictate terms or what songs they wanted to sing. I did like The Monkees" and have a cd of their hits.KEVP wrote:(The Monkees television series originally aired from 1966 to 1968. Re: Caption Competition
Archie and his friends are really classic characters from American comic books. They first appeared in a comic book called "Pep Comics" in 1941. But yes, when these characters were translated into an animated TV show in 1968, the producers of the show added a detail that Archie and his friends had their own band called "The Archies". This was then added to the comic books, which are still published.
The characters are now in a live action series called "Riverdale", which I actually haven't ever seen.

Re: Caption Competition
"Keep looking, Miranda!" urged Barney. "There's gotta be mention of ‘Rogers the gardener’ in these original FAMOUS FIVE texts....!"
"Are you sure he's not only on TV?" muttered Miranda in disgust.
Last I heard, THE MONKEES (TV show)'s mystique was ultimately "killed off" by their film "HEAD" (1968).
The creators then went off to do that other "destructive" movie, the critically-acclaimed "EASY RIDER" (1969).

"I hope you are reading that book and not just looking at the pictures Barney." said Miranda sternly.
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.
