When Miss Trimble lost her glasses,
She didn't see Goon making passes.
As he entered the gate,
She saw him too late,
It looked like a scene from the farces!

Tame, I know, Rob.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

OK here’s another:

When Ern stepped out in the night,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

When Ern stepped out in the night,
Turning a corner, he had a big fright.
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.

Turning a corner, he had a big fright.
When a cat jumped out,
He gave a great shout,
"What a lot of trouble one avoids if one refuses to have anything to do with the common herd. To have no job, to devote ones life to literature, is the most wonderful thing in the world. - Cicero

I was thinking 'and both of them fell on their 'asses' - but I was using the short sound of the words as per 'up north' rather than parses and glarses.;-)

Anyway - 'as you were' -

When Ern stepped out in the night,
Turning a corner, he had a big fright.
When a cat jumped out,
He gave a great shout,
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

He gave a great shout,
And ran home with all of his might.

I have to admit I was also thinking of something like "fell on their..." — which I do spell and pronounce to rhyme with "parses" and "glarses" — but that might have been a bit too rude for an Enid Blyton site!!  In any case, I just thought it would be amusing to imagine Goon being desperate enough to try his luck with Miss Trimble...

Love this too — well done all. How about a new Find-Outers one...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

When Goon thought he'd solved a big case
Which involved crimes in far outer space,
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Which involved crimes in far outer space,
His pride sadly was dashed,
And he felt quite abashed,
When he found the crook gone with no trace.
