Has anyone read the Book - Ghost in the Water, Author - Edward Chitham, I have got a copy of the Book (which I have yet to read), which I bought on eBay.

I downloaded the 1982 TV version of Ghost in the Water, from YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYUlr1mIC40" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has anyone read any of Edward Chitham's other Books.

Ah yes - I've got that exact edition of Ghost in the Water. I read it when I was 12 or 13 but haven't read it again since. I also remember the TV programme. Thanks for the YouTube link, Billy - I may well watch it again sometime (and re-read the book). I loved chilling tales like that when I was a child but I don't know whether Edward Chitham wrote anything else along the same lines.

What's the basic story/blurb - without giving too much away, I mean? :-)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

All I remember is a girl and boy finding out about the past and getting caught up in tragic events. There's something about a young girl, a sampler, a graveyard and a river or canal.

This book is set in and around my home town (Rowley Regis) and the author was a teacher at my school (though a few years before my time). He hasn't written any more fiction, but he's written a few local history books.

I had no idea this was a book! I just assumed it was written for television. I'd have only been about nine, but I remember it was absolutely terrifying!

I started reading Ghost in the Water, this afternoon, I enjoyed reading the first two chapters of the Book, thanks to the 1982 BBC TV version of Ghost in the Water, I have got images of Teresa and David, in my mind, and also an image of the Churchyard, already the Book, has got a good sense of atmosphere, and I am sure I will enjoy reading the rest of the Book.

Very interesting, Billy! :-D

Reminds me a little of the canal tunnel just along the canal from my house - which inspired some of my Famous Five story! :D (quiet plug, lol!)

Very nice photo, Rob, I have always liked Canals.

I enjoyed reading chapters 3 and 4 of Ghost in the Water, this afternoon, I like the way, that you see the story, through Teresa's eyes.
