I've never heard Enid compared to Jimi Hendrix before:

I like the comment 'while Blyton wrote a great many books...she was not prolix within them.

 No, neither have I! An enjoyable article and good to see Enid's writing style and sheer creativity praised so highly. Thanks for sharing that, Kate Mary.

Yes, it's great to see an article which looks at the texts and attempts to show what makes Enid Blyton's stories so captivating and enduring.

Thanks for posting the article, Kate Mary. I like both Blyton and Hendrix by the way, but not at the same time.

Thanks Kate Mary. That was a superb article. As others have said it is refreshing and pleasing to see Enid being given her due and taken seriously rather than dismissed by snobs. I actually believe there is truth in his musing on whether she would have been accorded more respect if she had been a drug user. In any case the description of the faraway tree lands as "Fantastical airships" was very apt in a sort of psychedelic way.

 For some reason I'm having visions of a new "adult Famous Five" along the lines of Five Go Tripping on LSD. (Hang on, better not give them ideas.)

I suppose that's too late now - unless you edit your post, Courtenay, and hope they haven't read it yet ;-).
