I've never heard Enid compared to Jimi Hendrix before:

I like the comment 'while Blyton wrote a great many books...she was not prolix within them.

Thanks Kate Mary. That was a superb article. As others have said it is refreshing and pleasing to see Enid being given her due and taken seriously rather than dismissed by snobs. I actually believe there is truth in his musing on whether she would have been accorded more respect if she had been a drug user. In any case the description of the faraway tree lands as "Fantastical airships" was very apt in a sort of psychedelic way.

For some reason I'm having visions of a new "adult Famous Five" along the lines of Five Go Tripping on LSD. (Hang on, better not give them ideas.)
