Ooh, now that sounds worthwhile — Bromley and Beckenham are not very far from me! :D I don't yet know what my schedule will be for those days, but I would be very interested to go to either of those if I can. I've not yet seen the 1957 FF film and I'd also like to learn more about Eileen Soper and her work.

Do you have the link for further details, Tony? Thanks for sharing this.

That would be interesting, but sadly too far for us to travel over to. I do have a copy of that F.F film by the Children's Film Foundation, it's a good film.

I sent my mum a DVD of it for Christmas a few years ago (and she enjoyed it), but haven't watched it myself. Yes, I know it's available on YouTube, but it would be more fun to see it at the cinema if I can!

Its a great film in my opinion, even with the slight changes that took place. At least the changes were made within Enid's lifetime.

I still don't know yet if I'll be able to get to either of those events, but I'm glad to have been reminded. I agree it's good to know that the film of Five on a Treasure Island was made with Enid's approval — we've seen some of her own comments about it in the editorials from the EB Magazines of 1957 that Rob has been sharing in another thread. I especially remember her observation that the girl who plays George (Rel Grainer) is Australian and so Enid's Aussie fans should be proud of her!

Just a reminder that these events are coming up shortly. Is anyone thinking of going to any of them?
