Anita thank you for your recipe, I tried it and the macaroons came out perfect :D Looking at the other recipe it seems the only difference is the almond essence and an extra ounce of ground almonds,I can't believe the difference from such a slight alteration!

Stephen , that sounds very unpleasant, it's such a frightening feeling to choke on something. One of the reasons I've never understood the love for really hard boiled sweets and gobstoppers.

I'm glad the macaroons turned out well, IceMaiden. I sometimes used to make them for Enid Blyton Day picnics and my daughter has often made them for friends.
