The Enid Blyton Society

The house and island for sale was featured on the Midlands news this dinnertime. It looks lovely and peaceful. The lady selling it brings in bottled gas for power, so it isn't too primitive. She is going to take to boating now - I presume that will be her next residence.

Maybe she'll meet up with the Five on their narrowboat?

This one is my personal favourite, it's a beautiful little place, you drop downhill and there's this tiny village at the bottom which opens straight on to the beach. To top it off, there's a cave opening in the clump of rocks on the left side!

When I imagine Kirrin or Rubadub village, this is the sort of image that comes to mind .

I know North Wales rather well, as my dad was born there and his brother and my cousins still live there. They live near Denbigh, at Goppa Farm not far from Henllan.

We also used to holiday a lot at Tally-Bont, Barmouth, betws y coed and many other places. My dad climbed Snowdon with his brother when he was a teenager.

Thanks for sharing those beautiful images, Ice Maiden. The coastline in all three of these places is stunning and they would all make perfect Blyton places. I've been to both Nefyn and Aberdaron and love both places. I've been to the smallest house in Great Britain in Conwy as well, I'd agree that it's definitely worth a visit! Rob, Barmouth is great with the iconic bridge and Snowdonia is lovely. I've not climbed Snowdon myself but you can get a train all the way to the summit which I've had the pleasure of going on.

I've been in both the 'smallest house' and 'the ugly house' - which isn't ugly at all!

Is that Ty Hyll in Betws-y-Coed? I've always wanted to go there. I'll have to pay a visit sometime

That's the one, yes. It has a fascinating history - supposedly the home of bandits, and supposedly one of the houses built 'in a day' - under old common-laws that stated if a house could be built and have smoke coming out of its chimney by nightfall, the owner could claim it as their legal property.

I love the look of Llangrannog,which I didn't know about.I will try and get there on our Welsh holiday at the end of September.

I have never been up Snowdon yet, which is shameful when I live in its national park I'll get up it one day Barmouth isn't bad, (I don't really go there anymore since Woolworths went and it's not as nice as it used to be) but I find it's nicer further up past Dyffryn and Llanbedr towards Harlech.

I've not been to the 'ugly house', I've heard of it, but Betws y Coed is a little far out from me so unfortunately I've not been there often.

Pete, if you get to Llangrannog you won't regret it! It's a beautiful little place which to me feels like it's tucked away from the rest of the world! Obviously if you like holidays full of arcades and amusements and the nightlife (which is my idea of hell) you won't find it much fun there, but if you like what I call 'a proper holiday' you'll love it .

Yes I like the 'proper' sort of holidays you describe.

I once asked Bob who runs the Aberdaron newsagent/sweetshop were he went for a holiday considering he already lived in such a beautiful place.

He said he went to Blackpool and spent lots of time on the slot machines!

The beach at Llangrannog was a brilliant suggestion as I am very familiar with the whole of North Wales and it's great to hear about a new place I haven't visited before.

We've even been looking for accommodation near the beach!

That looks a beautiful place, I'm quite envious of whoever owns Morfa Farm being so close to the beach!

A friend of mine once took me to an arcade to show me how much of a rip off those slot machines are, her dad had worked in them and knew how they worked, that they were specially designed and weighted not to give anything away apart from the odd win now and then, and that those claw grabber things are too weak to pick anything inside up. It was quite an eye opener watching all these people putting coin after coin in a machine, far more than they were getting back out! I don't understand the appeal at all, if I wanted to get rid of my money fast I can think of better ways to do it than that .

Maybe the cave in the cliff leads to a celler or outbuilding at the farm too
