Help Please - Blyton place / field names

Thinking caps on please my friends.

On 29th March, I achieved a wish, a dream I'd harboured for almost a decade. I became the proud owner of some land. Conveyancing on the land began 9 years ago and fell through, leaving me heartbroken. I saved and saved and every winter would contact the owner, asking him again. To cut a long story short, I now own the land I'd set my heart on all those years ago.

It's been left, neglected for 30 years. Trees had been planted, and their guards left on, some died, most made it, but many were struggling withe the guards making their barks constricted or wet.

So, I have land, it has no name. It's referred to purely as The Field at the moment, but needs Blyton related names, so please give me any you can think of from either the Treasure Hunters, the Famous Five, Secret Seven of Adventure Series.

There is a large hollow on the land, which I'll name Big Hollow, but I need names for the following:

Two ponds
Three Copses
A field that's to be split (so multiple names)
Barn

And the site itself. I was considering Green Hedges, but it doesn't suit it somehow. I re read Finniston Farm as I remember one the trip round the farm, they were told of Faraway Field, Tinker's Wood, Hangman's Copse, The Oak Tree Field (I do have oaks) and another one which has slipped my mind.....

So, thinking caps on please folks, it's very Blytonish down there, I'll plant some gorse in honour of the five, and yesterday I went digging and found the old well - all capped off and clean, just perfect, it was a real adventure....

Any help advice, etc appreciated, I'm saving to plant another copse so that'll also need a name.

Thank you

G@K

That sounds excellent, Zoe - really exciting! I'm glad you achieved your dream after such a long wait! :D

If you've seen rabbits on the land, Coney Copse (from Five on a Hike Together) might be good.

There's also Tigger's Barn in Secret Seven on the Trail.

Gosh how exciting. You could take names and add the field at the end such as Faynights Field from Wonderful Time. Or Graylings Field from The Treasure Hunters, or Billycock Field. The names are endless. :D

I was thinking of Coney Copse too.

I do think you just have to call something after Kirrin!

Would Gloomy Water do for either pond?

I'm afraid I can't think of any suitable names, but I just wanted to say 'wow'. Your piece of land sounds amazing, and I hope you have a wonderful time tending it.

Maybe for the barn = Owl's Dene (Five Get Into Trouble), which is in the German translation named Eulennest = Owl's net. :-)

Sounds brilliant! :-D

How about Blue Pool, Kirrin Common, Magga Glen,Roker's Vale?

Thanks all, I'm trying to be subtle rather than name the place Finniston Farm, but these suggestions are great, thank you - and saves me re reading all of the books in a hurry!

Keep them coming please, much appreciated :)

I love the sound of Roker's Vale, Rob, or Kilty Vale (both from Five Go off to Camp).

If I had even the smallest grassy hillock, I'd be tempted to call it Billycock Hill.

What about Middlecombe Woods (Five Get Into Trouble) or Ravens Wood (Five Fall Into Adventure) - even if your "woods" are really copses, Zoe?

The field next to Tinker Hayling's house is called Cromwell's Corner (Five Are Together Again).

It would be great to see some photos of the land at some point!

I know it isn't very original but I would name the wood Blyton Wood.

When all the names are sorted it sounds the ideal venue for a Forum Picnic!

It certainly does, Pete. A field with a Blyton name and maybe a pond or two, gorse bushes and who knows a small wood! :D

I've always liked 'Croker's Corner' from 'Trouble' as well. :-D
