Let me know the titles first....

Whilst some cassettes are still relatively easy to find, others are like gold dust and I still haven't succeeded in getting images of them in our Audio section. These really scarce ones are mostly the oldest and newest. The Find-Outers cassettes were released towards the end of the period, where most cassettes had a very short lifespan. I actually got all mine when they were first released, but I believe that the scarcest cassette is in a different Blyton series as for many years I didn't even know that it existed.

That has to be the strangest bunch of children I've ever seen! No wonder it's rare!

Have just completed my first audio series: 'Famous Five'. All are in dramatised form (NOT the set with Jan Francis et al) - most were originally released by Hodder Children's Audiobooks; but the most recent[*] ones (Five Have a Wonderful Time, and Five Go on a Hike Together) were in the Tempo series, and a little more difficult to track down.
Am currently converting all 21 audio tape sets to MP3 so if anyone has a favourite & wants to take a listen feel free to PM me.

[*]Recent here means "in order of acquisition", of course.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but the "Tempo" series of tapes in the Famous Five collection seem to have an annoying narrator who jumps in at the end of each speech with "he said" or "she said". Tends to ruin the whole effect of "real-life" conversation!!!

WHEREAS, the Hodder versions omit this.

Hi all - can anyone tell me if the Rainbow and Tempo sets were adapted and arranged by the same people? The notes for both on this site suggest they are. The reason I ask is because I'm trying to track down as many of the Rainbow recordings as possible as a Christmas present for my wife and they're a right pain to find. Tempo ones come up a lot more often so if they're the same recording, I'll grab some of those instead.

Yes, the Tempo ones are exactly the same as the Rainbow ones and probably easier to find, although the Rainbow ones do appear on Ebay quite often.

Cheers Tony, that gives me much more scope! Do you know if any of these adaptations were ever transferred to CD or MP3? I'd still prefer the original tapes for added authenticity but if I don't fi d them all by xmas I could always fall back on a digital set.

Does anyone have (or know of where I can get) the Pickwick Secret Seven's read by Roy Castle. I listened to them a lot when i was a child and my cassettes have long since bitten the dust.
I can't believe that no-one has a copy or maybe even uploaded them somewhere, given how much is available online these days, but so far I have drawn a blank. I wish they were still available to buy but, sadly, no...
