Of course I just had to read this short story from 1936 to see if it contained any elements remotely like the longer Find Outers story from 1949 - not matter how tenuous!

It's in my Christmas collection 'Christmas Treats' so I will read it when I get to it! :-D

Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

A sweet story. Enid Blyton was later to write Pantomime Wolf, which is similar:

Yes - the Pantomime Wolf was in 'Christmas Tales' last year. :-)
