You deserve a gold star for effort, Pete, but sadly I think the Journal is possibly starting to die a slow death. This latest Journal has had well under half the views of any other Journal on the forums!pete9012S wrote:Another really good reason for subscribing to the Journal for anyone reading this thread who isn't currently a subscriber.
It's hard to think of anything that gives more value for money than The Enid Blyton Society Journal.
The hard work that Tony puts into producing it and the informative content must make it one of the best bargains of the twenty first century!

Thanks, Pete, for the story and the article from the journal, neither of which I had read before.

Maybe, but the number of people who've posted about it may be only a tiny fraction of the number who are reading and appreciating it (I'm guilty there, as I seem to recall I haven't got around to posting on the latest Journal thread)...Tony Summerfield wrote: This latest Journal has had well under half the views of any other Journal on the forums!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Interesting as I felt that people were making more of an effort to write about the last Journal, and I had the impression more people had commented than usual!
Or maybe Tony means less people have viewed the latest Journal on the Journal page?

It may look less because there was less time for anticipatory posts beforehand!

Very interesting article from an early Journal. I've got the W H Smith Enid Blyton Storybook too. It's a nice book with stories from the Bedside book series and it has the original illustrations too.

Here's a picture of the cover, Pete. I'm not sure where my copy is at the moment but it's a thick book containing loads of stories:

The forums thread about Journal 62 has had fewer views. We no longer have as many subscribers as we used to either. A great pity because the latest Journal was up to the usual high standard and a huge amount of work went into it as always. Of course, I'm not sure how many views a Journal thread may continue to get long after the publication of that particular Journal.Rob Houghton wrote:Or maybe Tony means less people have viewed the latest Journal on the Journal page?

Re: Lucy Loud-Voice
Thanks for the link Pete, I didn't realise it was in the cave. Just had another re-read, not sure if it would have been amazing to live next door to an author after all.
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy
