Your favourite regular short story character
Re: Your favourite regular short story character
To be honest, I have hardly read any of the short stories, and those that I have were read 5o or so years ago! I just picked Mr Meddle as I liked his name!

Yes, I did read Brer Rabbit as a child - and enjoyed them! However, they were the Uncle Remus editions, not the editions re-written by Blyton.Tess wrote:Hey Brer Rowe!

Re: Your favourite regular short story character
I read E.B's Brer Rabbit stories often and enjoyed them, but I always felt the language used (American South) was more Uncle Remus than Enid Blyton. That's why I was really surprised that Brer Rabbit was included in a list of 'Blyton short story characters'. I'm being a bit picky, maybe, but there are so many great Blyton originals that could have replaced Brer Rabbit: Binkle and Flip, Billy-Bob, Belinda, Rubalong, Mary Mouse, Bom, Pip, Dan and Daisy, Feefo, Tuppeny and Jinks, Josie, Click and Bun, etc etc.

Re: Your favourite regular short story character
I voted Amelia Jane cos she's so naughty. Never liked Brer Rabbit, Mr Pink Whistle is a bit too smug and Mr Twiddle is good but in small doses. I like Mr Meddle but the naughty ones always get the vote.

I voted Mr. Pink-Whistle although it was hard to choose between him and Mr. Twiddle. I love the whole idea of Pink-Whistle, and he's such a lovable character for small children.

Re: Your favourite regular short story character
I bought a whole heap of Blyton books that were missing from my collection a few months ago and I've only now had the time to read them. Among them were Pink Whistle, Twiddle and Meddle - stories I'd not read before. They are all really great stories, but Pink Whistle has become my favourite - I just love that his whole purpose in life is to make things right! I find him very delightful because he often admits that sometimes he gets too carried away in trying to make things right and ends up punishing people a tad too much (i.e. the instance when he goes to school to punish George and Harry and ends up fighting them). I also love that for him the reward is just seeing the smile on the child's face.
