Your favourite regular short story character
I'm voting for Mr Pink-Whistle. He doesn't seem to get much recognition these days - but I think he's wonderful. Always putting little brats in their place!
PS I've left off Noddy - he's in a league of his own!

I find it impossible to choose! I love Meddle, Twiddle and Pink-Whistle and I really can't choose between the three. My first ever Enid Blyton book was Mr. Pink-Whistle's Party so Mr. Pink-Whistle has a special place in my heart. As a child I loved the Meddle stories, especially the one where he poured glue over his pudding instead of treacle and stuck his teeth together, and as an adult I'm fond of the Twiddles and the obvious affection which lies behind the nagging and the grumbles.

Some surprising responses already! I thought it was so obviously Mr Pink-Whistle, the others were added to the poll simply to make up the numbers. Apparently not so!
As for Anita's comments, perhaps I should have added "All of the above". I didn't include that option because I wasn't expecting anyone to like Mr Meddle!

Hey y'all, don't Brer Rabbit get no votes?
Who else could come up with the lines ( adopt suitable Texan drawl):
'Please don't throw me into that briar patch, Brer Fox.....'
and when Brer Fox falls for it: 'Born and bred in a briar patch, Brer Fox, born and bred ..!'
Eat your heart out, Brer Twiddle!

Let's hear a round of applause for Mr. PINK-WHISTLE, 'cos of:
- the f-u-n we have reading about him righting wrongs;
his helpful use of invisibility, a gift we'd all like to have;
but most importantly,
Enid Blyton's writing about a hybrid human/brownie hero helps counter the abominable slur by the Blyton Belittling Brigade that her occasional use of the N___ word, together with her inclusion of golly___s in the Noddy books, etc makes EB a racist.

Dear old Brer Rabbit for me please, with Mr. Twiddle in second place!!

I voted for Amelia Jane, who was certainly my favourite short story character as a child
Nowadays it might possibly be Mr Meddle, but Amelia Jane is still in the running!
I'm totally AMAZED that Brer Rabbit has got so many votes, or that he is even on the list at all,considering he wasn't really a Blyton creation. I would have liked to have seen Binkle and Flip on there, and even (shock horror!!) the Three Golliwogs, who i loved as a child.

Hmm; Mr Meddle got my vote, but like Robert, I am amazed that Brer Rabbit got any votes.

Mr Pink Whistle for me. I just love how he goes about giving nasty people a dose of their own medicine. Brer Rabbit's stories are enjoyable but I too am surprised he has got so many votes. But there is plenty of variety in Blyton's work so it is only right that there should be plenty of variety in her fans opinions.

I'm surprised old Mr Twiddle didn't get any votes other than mine!
