Hope everyone has had a wonderful and magical Christmas! Ours started traditionally on Christmas Eve with the Carols from Kings at 5:45 pm and has lasted over 3 days - and maybe extend on through till 27th

Goodness how do you make it last 3 days?! It's a lovely idea though given how quick the day goes by, but there's no way I could stretch out present opening over that long, I haven't even got the willpower to keep some for the afternoon even though every year I'm determined to do so!

Years of practice!! Its a slow and leisurely celebratory process. After midnight mass on 24/12 (and this year a lovely view of the magnificent stars over the sea near St David's) everyone gathers around 11am for coffee/drinks, someone is elected Father or Mother Christmas who is prompted what to give each person from under the tree, then everyone sits politely watching and commenting as each gift is opened, and a note made of the contents and giver for the thank you letters to come... Lunch takes about 2 hours + then there's a coffee and another opening session, followed by games, a supper trolley, movie or similar - so you can see what takes the time!! I'm embarrassed to admit we're not quite there yet...
