RIP Keith Chegwin

Post by Rob Houghton »

Another one from my childhood!

To people my age, he was the 'main man' on Multicoloured Swap Shop and 'Cheggers Plays Pop' as well as many other programmes over the years. he was also in several Children's Film Foundation films, and The Liverbirds and Black Beauty, amongst many others. More recently, he appeared on 'The Big Breakfast' and It's A Knockout.

Keith died today aged just 60, due to 'a progressive lung condition'. :-(

Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

I was very sad to see that news item. For me he was very much a face from my childhood. I saw him on TV recently when watching an episode of Open All Hours. I believe he uttered the words 'Have you got a Frozen Zoom?'. :D

Very sorry to hear this. I have fond memories of watching Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and Cheggers Plays Pop as a child. RIP Keith Chegwin.

Came across as a lovely guy. I was a bit too young to properly appreciate what was going on in Cheggers Plays Pop, but even at that tender age I noticed that the presenter seemed constantly cheerful and friendly.

Sad news. I remember his programmes very well. 60 is way too young. RIP.

He always came across as a friendly, likeable guy with bags of energy. 60 is far too young.

So sad to hear that Keith Chegwin has passed away. Like others, he was part of my TV childhood. 60? No age at all. R.I.P. KC.
