The Great Coffee & Tea Ice Cream Taste Test Challenge!
I know nothing can equal the thrill, excitement and salivation delivered by The Great Carrot Cake Challenge, but here is another in which everyone who feels so inclined can participate and comment on.
The Famous Five and lots of other Blyton characters loved their 'ices' and simply couldn't get enough of them.
Did they have much flavour options back then beside vanilla?
Today's world is different - but many still like an 'ice' in the hot weather!!
Even Timmy loved an 'ice'....
My Wife and I have tried both co-op's and Carte D'or's Coffee Ice Cream.
Now we want to try more! any experts out there??
I'm a tea drinker myself, and rarely drink coffee - but I do love ice-cream so I am already hooked!!!
The co-op's ice cream was reduced to 49p and was a luxury ice cream.Very adult coffee taste, not too sweet and sugary-definitely one for the adults.
The one to beat (for us) 9/10
The Carte D'Or offering was sweeter, smoother, but still very good value as Sainsbury's have it reduced from £3.50 to £2 at the moment for 1ltr.
7.5/10
Suggestions, comments, bargains currently on offer and anything else welcome!

As coffee is one of the few flavours I for some reason can't stand, I won't be joining you in this indulgence, Pete, but I commend you for your thorough research and hope you discover many more worthwhile varieties.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Never mind Courtenay.
Any tea flavoured ice cream suggestions would be most welcome and faithfully tried out by us here too! (if any such variants exist???)

You can certainly get green tea flavoured ice cream in Japan — it's very popular! I did try it when I was over there on a school trip, years ago, but it didn't grab me much.

I'm really not a coffee drinker but love this coffee ice cream - I wonder what true coffee lovers would make of it?

I love good coffee and coffee ice cream, Pete. I'll be checking out the ice cream in the Co-op and Sainsbury's in the morning. My mouth is watering as I write.

Re: The Great Coffee & Tea Ice Cream Taste Test Challenge!
I never even heard of coffe ice cream until this thread!
Mind you, I'm not a one for flavoured ice cream. I like peach flavour, strawberry, caramel flavour and things like black currant etc, but still prefer vanilla! the Carte D'Or vanilla is one of the best!
I wonder if there is such a thing as tea flavoured ice cream? I guess tea doesn't have a flavour as marked as coffee so it would be quite hard to replicate!

Green Tea Ice cream is not rare now, but I prefer green tea itself.
As for coffee ice cream, I am a Tiramisu addict and Tiramisu flavored ice cream is almost (but not completely) as good! Wonder if that counts?

Here's a recipe that I'm wondering if I'd dare to try if I had an ice cream maker...

Re: The Great Coffee & Tea Ice Cream Taste Test Challenge!
I went to both the Co-op and Sainsbury's this morning, Pete. Both were out of stock of coffee ice cream. However, I managed to find a 1L Carte D'Or Arabica Coffee Ice Cream in our local Asda supermarket for £2. I've just tried it and it has a very strong flavour which is quite delicious.
In the past I have added Camp Chicory and Coffee Essence to vanilla flavoured ice cream to give it a coffee flavour. This, too, makes a delicious ice cream which can be made to any strength depending on the amount of the Camp liquid added.
