Chuck Berry (1926-2017)

Post by Eddie Muir »

I have just heard the sad news that the great Chuck Berry has died at the age of 90. He was a true legend of rock 'n' roll. RIP Chuck.

Here is one of his greatest recordings, Johnny B Goode from 1958:

RIP Chuck Berry. I agree that Johnny B Goode is fantastic, Eddie.

Just read his obituary. I never realised he lived such a colourful life! R.I.P. Chuck Berry.

I was quite shocked when I read his life history, made me wonder if I should enjoy listening to his music any more. Certainly makes Enid Blyton's 'faults' seem quite trivial in comparison!

What I liked about his songs was the economy and use imagery in communicating the emergent teen-aged life so convincingly. R.i.p Chuck.
