Our good and new intentions for 2017!!

As I approach the simply marvelous age of fifty next December (remember it's only 25 X 2) I would like to do more exercise, get more fit and healthy and lose a bit of weight.

I sound rather like Fatty as I have just had mushrooms on hot buttered toast for lunch - obviously I will be jogging around my village later in my singlets and running shoes - if I can shake that pesky Eunice off..

Do you have any good and new intentions for 2017?

Incidentally a thread with the same title was started ten years ago...I wonder how many of those who commented are still with us and how their intentions went?

But the start of a new year is a good time to make some goals for the next twelve months.
I would like to score more than seventeen in the quiz for starters!!

1) No more buying physical books in 2017. But can buy ebooks.

I hope you have more success than I did!

I hadn't discovered the EBS 10 years ago, so have no idea what I intended a decade ago. I'm pretty certain I haven't succeeded in much of it though.

For next year, I really want to be better at keeping in touch with people, whether that's finally arranging to have a coffee with people I rarely see, or replying to e-mails before the senders think my computer must have blown up.

There are serious ones such as trying to be healthier, more organised etc., but fun ones too such as actually reading as much as possible. :D

50 is nothing Pete, wish I was 50 again!!!!

Love the picture of Fatty with Eunice. That is one of the paper back books I have somewhere in the loft.

As for my new intentions for 2017, I guess I could lose a bit of weight myself, and maybe stop buying as many shoes!!!

Julie, if you took up jogging you could buy yourself some lovely new trainers, and not feel guilty about purchasing new footwear.

2) Like Katharine, I would like to read as many books as possible. After all, reading is my hobby.

My only goal for the next twelve months is to still be here at the end of it.

I've absolutely got to clear all the junk out of my flat within the next month or so, its getting past a joke now.

Every available bit of space in here is stuffed to the brim with rubbish - under sofas and beds, behind doors (the doors are then wedged with a wedge to stop them closing and revealing the junk!), behind units, in cupboards, there is literally not a bit of empty space anywhere.

I'm awful for keeping stuff and thinking "that might come in useful" - mostly things like packaging that I can reuse for sending parcels etc. I've got a stash of paper primark bags because I can't afford to waste money buying brown parcel paper just to have it ripped and thrown away. I've also got loads of cardboard that "might be useful" for packing things in.

I've got tons of clothes from years and years ago that need getting rid of.

But the stuff taking up the most space is boxes from my household items, like kettles, George's drinking fountain, kitchen gadgets, hair dryers, hair stylers, laptop, mini oven, etc. I've kept them because I always think that when I move, I can use them to pack the gadgets back up again, rather than shoving them all in other boxes.

I've also got to lose weight from the tops of my arms. The rest of me is fine but the weight seems to stick on my arms. I've got a Powerball arm toner and you can just sit in front of the TV on and do that but I've even been too lazy to do that!

Why not flatten the boxes? Then if you need them again all you have to do is tape them up?
