Saw a few puffins together on the colony cam but they were quite a way away, so I went to the other two cams to see if I could see them closer and didn't see any on the closer cams. So its quite different this year, its going to take awhile to workout which cam to watch as the main cam.
Sue, I've never observed more than one giant rabbit at a time, so I assumed that it must be the same. :?:
No puffins so far.
My post-it note from last year claims that the best time to watch the puffins socializing is between 2 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. US East Coast time which is 7+ p.m. UK time (5 hours time change).
But I couldn't tell you what time that would be in Australia.

Sue, right now there are 4 rabbits running through the area, one of them is huge. Also in F8 I can recognize some kind of bird sitting in his burrow (a puffin?).
I've noticed that for days and days it's sunny on Burhou and Alderney...this seems to be the best time of the year for a visit on the Channel Islands.

Chrissie, glad you got to see the group of rabbits.
I'm having a problem with my computer at the moment and can't seem to bring up the Puffin site, very frustrating as I've been looking forward to this season. Hope to get it fixed soon.

cheers

I forget about the puffins for days at a time... just looked now and they seem to be enjoying a midday stroll in the sun... lots of activity!

They've been out and about quite a lot this week but, ominously, the gulls are watching them.

Daisy, I counted 18 puffins right now even though it's an overcast afternoon on Burhou.

Yes, Daisy, Chrissie and John, there seems to be many more puffins this year and even during, what is, late afternoon/early evening for me, so I'm not needing to stay up till the early hours of the morning as I did last year.

I think the main cam is better located this year and gives a clearer picture nearer to the waters edge so we see more puffins as they all head for the water eventually.

Whilst there are more puffins and more rabbits this year, I think the number of gulls has increased too. Early today I saw about 8 gulls hovering around the puffin burrows.

We are so lucky to be able watch the happenings on this lovely little island.

cheers

I missed watching the puffin cam while we were on vacation.
When I turned it on for the first time in almost 3 weeks yesterday, I was delighted to see 18 (!) puffins walking around. I don't remember ever watching as many at the same time. :D :D :D

Chrissie, there does seem more activity and more puffins this year, which is wonderful. Every time I think to go on the site regardless of the time, there seems to be quite a gathering. Such fun.
