Thanks Daisy. Yes I did indeed visit Corfe Castle. Rather than hi-jack this thread though, I'll be commenting on in elsewhere, once I've got time. Off to work now - holiday over already!

Warm thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and good wishes! I had a stunning celebration in the pretty downland village of Alfriston, managed a dawn visit to the dewpond at the Long Man of Wilmington, a swim in the outdoor pool looking up at the downs, enjoyed a special lunch with family on a lovely flowery terrace and an evening do with the full moon beaming down - the nearest possible visit to the Land of Birthdays :D
