Re: Dr Who
Intriguingly, the 'voice' of K9 was played by another actor, who himself appeared as a different character in a Tom Baker episode set in a marsh.
Because the episode was being filmed in a marsh,K9,due to mobility problems could not actually be used or travel over the marsh!!

The Power Of Kroll is the name of the adventure, Petus. It's also part of the Key To Time series of adventures.

Re: Dr Who
That is quite correct about the marshy ground,as we read:
The K9 prop would not work on swampy ground and so does not appear in this story. However, John Leeson appears in the role of Dugeen. He took the part after the actor originally cast became unavailable.

Re: Dr Who
Couldn't K9 have levitated slightly over the marsh surface on an air cushion? Sort of like a Flymo?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Have just listened to Waters of Amsterdam and Nyssa sounds shockingly, well, shocked on learning that the TARDIS scanner can see into the bedrooms. And the Doctor sounds suspiciously embarrassed as he hastens to reassure her that it's only used in direst emergencies...

The Daleks were given anti gravity, in Remembrance Of The Daleks, Courtus, so why not with K9 as well?

Dear Fandom,
We should wait until we actually see the episodes with the new Companion, before we pass judgement on her.
But, where's the fun in that?
She'll get a fair trial after the lynching.

Re: Dr Who
Although as has been correctly stated K9 could not traverse the marsh, this scintillating picture shows the scale of K9 next to perhaps the best Doctor of all time,Colin Baker.

Didn't know there was any "perhaps" about it for you, Pete.

Re: Dr Who
John Leeson was unavailable in Series 17 for some reason and so K9 was voiced by David Brierly who sounded noticeably different.
I seem to remember around the late 80s when I first became a proper Doctor Who fan, John Leeson used to crop up as a stooge in Jeremy Beadle pranks. Beadle would say something like "And here comes the first policeman, played by actor John Leeson..." as if he was mentioning the name of some completely unknown bit part. But with my Who geekery, I knew who John Leeson was and would like to think I would have recognized him and pointed this out straight away had Mr Beadle tried to play a prank on me!

With Jeremy Beadle you always hoped one of his victims would snap and it'd be Watch Out, Beadle's a Stiff.

Former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy tells why the Time Lord saga is one of the greatest stories of all time.
An audio interview with one of the best Doctors (Colin Baker notwithstanding) of them all.
