It was a friendly haunting of Ginger Pop, full of happy memories of special thymes, and I'd subsequently take my haul over to haunt the Nat Trust tearoom (preferably outside with its sublime views of the Castle) to inscribe my purchases in invisible ink, saving the green for the Forums...Moonraker wrote:I hadn't realised you had passed away, floragord. Oh my God, loved all of this!! Thanks a lot for the links! The songs were beautiful.Rob Houghton wrote:That's a great song, and demonstrates how 'dark' parts of the film are - quite adult! I also love 'Suddenly' and 'When He Danced With Me' - which was the big 'hit' of the film and was often played on the radio at the time.Anita Bensoussane wrote:I haven't seen The Three Musketeers but I do love The Slipper and the Rose. Most people that I know don't seem to remember it so it's great to hear that there are some fans here. Stunning costumes and sets as Cathy (Carlotta) said, and the basic storyline is enhanced to make the most of the romantic and tragic elements. One of my favourite songs is 'Tell Him':

Once I Was Loved is also a favourite of mine -

And 'Secret Kingdom' - with Richard Chamberlain singing -

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
We are resting after a long day out - train from Guildford to Reading, bus via Henley and Marlow (passing within a mile of Bourne End near Old Thatch) to High Wycombe and then bus to Beaconsfield seeing where Green Acres once stood. On the way back we took a different bus from High Wycombe to Reading which took us via Loddon Hall in Twyford with happy memories of Enid Blyton days of the past.
It was very much a case of what used to be. Green Acres now gone, Old Thatch now closed to visitors and Loddon Hall not used for Enid Blyton Days anymore.

How many forumites remember the American sitcom, Green Acres from the late sixties? I recall watching it on television each week. It starred Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

I always write 'Acres' when I mean to put 'Hedges' - it must be all those suburban houses with that name that have infiltrated my mind!

Holidaying/Cat sitting in Surrey at the moment. Might pay a visit to RHS Wisley on Enid's birthday, Friday, providing it's not pouring down.

It is certainly pouring down in Salisbury at the moment, I currently have a hole in my roof with a missing ceiling under it and an army of rapidly filling bowls and buckets on the floor!

Francis, I've been to the former Green Acres spot in Blyton Close, Beaconsfield in May 1981. I felt the same.Francis wrote:We are resting after a long day out - train from Guildford to Reading, bus via Henley and Marlow (passing within a mile of Bourne End near Old Thatch) to High Wycombe and then bus to Beaconsfield seeing where Green Acres once stood.

I hope you manage to get that sorted, Tony before any more damage is done.I recall a relentless 'drip, drip, drip' on my bedroom ceiling some years ago. I heroically sent my Dad up there to sort it.
