Blimey! Whatever do you find to talk about? I'm so glad very few people have my number.

It works well for relatives/friends if you want to have a really good natter, it's amazing where the time goes :P . I rely on the phone ringing for work so only letting a few people know my number isn't an option. I do unplug it to listen to my favourite radio programme in peace though  .

Cheers Courtenay, I can imagine your parents had a fabulous time, highly recommend a visit! Warm thanks everyone for your kind comments wishing us well on our travels! What an adventure! Our overnight flight from Heathrow got us to Bangkok for a big city stopover, then flew down to Siem Reap for the sublime experience of sunrise over Angkor Wat, spent 3 days touring the amazing temples and ruined cities still deep in the jungle (route marches at 40C and 80% humidity  ) then joined our downstream river boat down through Cambodia and Vietnam. It was magic watching the busy life on the river and at evening sunset over the water and fires burning on the banks from the top deck plunge pool. I specially loved the rural areas, we enjoyed ox cart rides to ancient pagodas, electric sampan jaunts to floating markets, wonderful silk villages where items were made from cocoon to finished product before your eyes - just amazing, rich soil with flourishing mango, banana and sugar cane crops and vivid red chillies drying in the sun . We wound up in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and were interested to visit the very atmospheric Cu Chi Tunnels where the Vietcong fought US forces, still quite challenging! It truly was a most memorable journey - but as always nice to be back on our cool Welsh hillside - and the EBS!

Wow, what an amazing adventure, Floragord! :D Thanks for giving us a run-down of it. Glad you had such a fantastic time — obviously a holiday you'll remember forever.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Just now I'm currently feeling pretty let down by Ribena and the fact that even their 'full sugar' version is now loaded with artificial sweeteners and aspartame, which I have always tried to avoid! It might sound petty to some, and I know there's a whole debate about whether its bad for us or not -- but it IS highly addictive - and it DOES make the Ribena taste awful. So no more cordial for me, as this was the last one not to contain artificial sweeteners.

I hate living in a Nanny State where we aren't allowed to have a choice. :-(

I think only the ready-to-drink Ribena contains aspartame? There is a juice syrup Ribena where we must add water to dilute it. Does it contain aspartame too?

It does in Britain. All drinks where you add water now contain aspartame. Its due to the 'sugar tax' which has now come into force in Britain, where manufacturers are taxed on sugar content. So we are all being forced to drink these drinks with artificial sweeteners. Ribena was the only drink like this I ever drank because until about a month ago it didn't contain artificial sweeteners, but now its off my list! :-(

Well I am back at last after a self imposed exile or a prolonged exercise in self denial. You have heard of giving up things for Lent but this was getting ridiculous! I hope my many friends on the forum are well and posting merrily and I have started my rehabilitation with starting to read 'Five go off to Camp at bedtime - so there!

Feel free to abuse me in your usual style and I am almost ready for all-comers.

Many Regards Francis

Great to have you back, Francis. Did your period of self-denial extend to refraining from buying Adventure series books? :D

Yes having overdosed on Adventure Books I had to go into aversion therapy and I haven't bought one for months. It does help that I have avoided places where I might see one. Of course you never really escape the urge to buy one you just take one day at a time.
