I don't like Shakespeare's work either but I do like the novels by Charles Dickens.

I was never quite interested in old literature. But Shakespeare is magical, at least for me.
I guess some of you know that I dislike living in India. One of the reasons being the poor standards of English. Don't get me wrong, I know that there are Indians who speak amazing English, and write really powerful pieces too. I know some. My dad, for one. :D But it's rare, and the common public speaks horrific English. I went to an amazing school, with great teachers. But the English teachers just... never really were as good as they should be. I don't have spectacular English, but it's good enough, I daresay, and sometimes I wish I had an inspirational, passionate English teacher. I did have one, an amazing guy. But that was it, really. :(

Btw, are any of you in the path of Hurricane Ophelia? Argh some part of me desperately wants to experience a hurricane once. :( We had about 1/6th of our average annual rainfall in one hour yesterday. (100mm) But eh I just love storms.

We found it amazing how many people spoke English, and had a go at talking to us in a mixture of languages, including our few (probably completely mispronounced) efforts at Hindi!! Rumour has it Wales and the west of the UK are in the path of the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia tomorrow, apparently its force is down to strong winds and some sheeting rain, definitely time to do the unpacking and washing from our just ended holiday!

I often wish I was related to Blyton or Christie, than Shakespeare!

This is my favourite Shakespeare piece:

I can see the resemblance...

As far as I know, I'm not related to anyone famous, although my Great Grandfather on my dad's mom's side was the personal chauffeur to Mr Hartley the jam king... And we also have some Gwynns in our ancestry a couple of hundred years back...so who knows - we might be related to royalty, lol! ;-)

Hurricane Ophelia is coming to Ireland tomorrow! I'm actually a bit scared to be honest. (The only good thing about is I won't have school tomorrow)

Which subjects are you going in for, Poppy? I'm doing AS maths at the moment and will go on to do A in 2018.
I'm doing English Literature, Psychology and Sociology, Sunskriti.
Now I feel out of place with the 10 subjects I'm doing for Leaving Cert, although I am happy as I enjoy all of them.. (still struggling in Irish but well, I'm doing my best) :D

I'm studying Macbeth at the moment and I really don't know what to think about it, but in general I think Shakespeare is amazing, an outstanding writer, and I just love reading his plays :D

I always enjoyed Macbeth, María Esther — it's gruesome and exciting and has some very memorable scenes and clever twists (Macbeth not realising what the prophecies about Birnam Wood and "none of woman born" will turn out to mean)... I'd say it's my favourite Shakespeare play, but it's the only one I've really studied in detail, so I can't judge very well! Glad you're enjoying all your subjects.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Ooh yeah, a whole lot of people do speak it, as it is a compulsory subject in school for most. But the quality of education is not that great, except for in highly over priced IB schools.
Also, when you were here there was still a lot of British influence left over, the current govt is very nationalistic and also more pro local languages, pro local culture, etc.

Well even earlier than ever my wife and I have succumbed and bought about three packs from the local co-op in the last week or two... has any one else eaten any yet?
