Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I watched a marvellous episode of the Persuaders earlier that seemed to have taken its entire storyline and inspiration from two of the Barney books. A deserted cottage falling to bits being used for hiding counterfeit money, strange noises and lights to frighten people away, a hidden landing space for an aircraft on the nearby landowner's farm and a detective in disguise investigating it all. On top of that, the little cottage had a well in the garden that when they climbed down had a secret passage in it leading to the room where the villains were producing and packing the money. It was like Rockingdown and Ring O' Bells merged together (with a little Mystery Moor for good measure), I wonder if the writer behind the episode was a fan?

It certainly sounds very Barney-ish!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Getting ready to set off for Holmfirth in Yorkshire, which is only an hour up the road. We'll be visiting the Last of the Summer wine TV locations, inc homes of Nora Batty & Compo, & Sid's cafe. Been a few times before, but it's nice to go back & wander around the surrounding countryside for a few hours. Beautiful.

Enjoy your trip, Number 6. It sounds great!
Your cake and ice cream with your granddaughter sounds great too, John. We have similar "meals" when our two grandsons come to stay.

'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I'm sitting in bed feeling awfully sorry for myself. With 10.25 hours left until I came off on maternity leave I headed to work yesterday evening and managed to fall quite badly off the pavement and onto the road.Ended up at A&E and I've seriously sprained one ankle and bashed the opposite knee.
So I'm pretty much bed-bound at the moment apart from slow careful trips to the loo.

"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Looking on the bright side - plenty of time to sit back and read EB books (and baby magazines etc!)

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I do have a big pile of books that need read! Unfortunately I was in so much pain last night I hardly slept (can't have anything except paracetamol) and I don't think I could focus on a book yet. Here's hoping in a few days I can get stuck in and work through some of the pile though.

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
Blimey, Fiona! I hope you're feeling better soon & your ankle quickly improves. There's nothing worse than being confined to bed, even if it's just for a while. Like Rob said, at least you've got time to do some quality reading! Take care.
