Thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes.

I haven't actually opened any cards or presents today!

Today we had a big family party for my son who has just turned 18. So this morning we were busy preparing for it, and this afternoon we were catching up with family and friends (also got to cuddle two babies :D :D :D ). By the time we got home it was gone 9.00, and too late for my youngest daughter to watch me opening everything, so I'm going to save them all for tomorrow. Unfortunately eldest daughter had to go straight back to uni from the party, so she won't be here to see me opening them, but I don't think I can wait until she's next back home.

I did however get a lovely cake, which they presented to me during the party - my son did try and get everyone to sing happy birthday to me as well, but fortunately I don't think anyone heard him.

Sounds lovely, Katharine — glad you had such a good day with the whole family and two birthdays to celebrate (and congratulations to your son as well!).

Now tomorrow you can almost have your birthday all over again as you open the presents!! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Yes indeed, it will be nice to have 2 birthdays, as long as that doesn't mean I'm 2 years old.

Good to hear you had a super day - my cousin who lives in your area tells me its been so stormy it was mentioned on the national weather warnings, and cold too; hope all's well.

Thanks for the belated good wishes

I'd forgotten about the weather on my birthday. The wind and rain did pick up during the afternoon, but we didn't really notice it as there was plenty of chatting going on, children running around, balloons bursting and music playing. The venue was in a rural location and the lights did dip a couple of times which was slightly worrying, especially as a cousin lives in that area and said that every few years they have a long power cut - obviously it wasn't due last weekend though. :D

I was slightly concerned as they were going to walk home, but fortunately the weather had calmed down again by the time they left. I didn't have time to see any weather warnings, but maybe it was just as well, as the worst seemed to miss us, so I didn't need to worry unnecessarily.

I eventually opened my cards and presents yesterday evening. As well as some money (always handy) and some nice things to eat, a friend sent me an audio tape of 'Five go to Smuggler's Top. I also got a camera which was a big surprise. Maybe I should test it out by photographing my books?
