Maybe they were inspired by the Tempests, in Mystery of the Burnt Cottage!

The swallows have hatched by now. What makes me wondert is this: when young swallows were begging for food, they used to be quite noisy. today they're rather silent, their chirping isn't that piercing and loud as it used to be. Of course it's possible they're a different kind of swallows, I'm no good in identifying them.

Wolfgang, it's a pity Enid isn't still alive, maybe she would have known the answer? :D

Maybe, Katharine.
I went through the gateway to unlock the door this morning, and three fluffy heaps were on the floor. One was still wriggling, the other two were lying motionless. I don't know if one young swallow is still in the nest. It had been quite cool recently, so I consider it possible there's a shortage of food supply right now, but of course they could have fallen from the nest by accident.

That's sad, Wolfgang. :( Unfortunately, many young birds don't survive. Over the last few months I've been watching coots, moorhens and a water-rail in parks and green spaces not far from my house. Each pair has only one chick (grown pretty big now) remaining. Ducks and swans tend to fare better and I've enjoyed watching a family of five cygnets which are all thriving.

Staying in Surrey at present, we took the train to Brighton yesterday and met up with Eddie and Chick. Wonderful to see you both again, Eddie. We had a great time strolling along the prom, eating fish & chips and drinking coffee in the gardens.

It was great to see you and Jane again yesterday, Nigel. Chick and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with you in Brighton. We had a wonderful time taking in the sights of our city, eating fish and chips and catching up with all our news. We look forward to another get-together in the not- too-distant future. :D

Chick and I are going to Eastbourne tomorrow to see the Be Bop A Lula tribute show at the Winter Garden Theatre. The special guest star of the show is 'Buddy Holly'. Sadly not the real stars, but as close as you're likely to get in 2017. It should be a great evening. :D

Thank you, Julie. I'm sure we'll enjoy the show. :D

The only problem will be parking, as the show coincides with the Eastbourne Airshow and preparations for it. This means many roads are closed and this makes it almost impossible for visitors to the town to find places to park. In addition to this difficulty, the main multi-storey car park, previously open all night, now closes at 9pm in response to complaints from residents who have had to tolerate nighttime vandalism and shenanigans in recent times.

Just make sure you and Chick behave yourselves, Eddie. I don't want to hear that you've both been arrested.
