This was a favourite Orbison track of mine in the 60s. I could never understand why it was not included on any of his 'Greatest Hits' or 'Best of' albums. It wasn't until decades later that I discovered it was because it had never been released as a single in America.

Jiles Perry Richardson was born in Sabine Pass, Texas, in 1930. He did not like his first name and preferred to call himself Jape Richardson. His first two records were released as by Jape Richardson and the Japettes. He also worked as a disc jockey, calling himself 'The Big Bopper', and his following records were released under that name. He followed the success of 'Chantilly Lace' with this record. It is now well-known that he met his death in the plane crash that also killed Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.

Today on Classic FM they played a particularly lively rendition of the carol Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day (John Gardner's setting). I can't find the same recording online (I think it was York Minster choir), but this one by Westminster Abbey choir is very similar.

The Kalin Twins - When

The twins Harold (Hal) and Herbert (Herbie) were born in Port Jervis, New York in 1934. They were heard by Clint Ballard Jnr. in 1958 and secured a recording contract with Decca. This song was written by Paul Evans (who later went on to have a big hit himself with "Seven Little Girls"). It was followed up in the US with "Forget Me Knot" (No: 12.) They never had any more hits and ceased performing for some years in 1961.
In 1977, they performed again, sometimes with their younger brother, Jack, as the Kalin Brothers.
Hal died in 2005 as a result of a car accident. Herbie died in 2006 from a heart attack.
